The Education Committee continues in its commitment to provide
Children's Church during worship, except for Communion Sundays. By doing this, we encourage our youth to
participate in the communion service.
This helps emphasize that they are a full-fledged part of our church
—they don’t have to be 18 or even confirmed to participate in this ritual.
We had a short meeting after church on January
29. Attending were Barbara Lewis, Nancy
Beasley, Tawney Massie, and Vendetta Moore. Vendetta had an idea of something for the
children to do in honor of Black History Month.
This came off on February 19, which was also
Human Rights Sunday. Vendetta and the
kids did a great job! Maybe we can do
something like that again.
Since we have had such small numbers of children,
we have changed our Children’s Church format to sharing Bible stories. Sometimes we also have a craft that goes
along with the story. The problem has
been that we don't know which story was shared the previous week. So, we will be keeping a list of what each
teacher did for their Sunday.
Our teachers are:
1st Sunday - Michele Ublasi; 2nd
Sunday - Communion; 3rd Sunday - Nancy Beasley; 4th
Sunday - Vendetta Moore; 5th Sunday (if there is one) - Barbara
Lewis. Thanks, Vendetta for all your help!
We have between 3 and 10 people that regularly
attend our adult class on Sunday mornings at
As always:
if you have ANY ideas on how to make our education programs better,
please give me a call (373-3966). We are
always looking for new things to try and new helpers for any of our programs.
Shalom to All… Edie
