Deacons Report

The Board of Deacons met on Monday, February 13th, at 9:30 AM. Nancy Beasley is our new Missions Deacon and I, Barbara Lewis is the new Chairperson. Ramona Kovach, George Lewis, Jean Neave, Sandy McDaniel, and Dorothea Thayer have all been deacons for two or more years.

Ramona, our Worship Deacon, has many responsibilities. It would help her if more of our congregation would volunteer to be Greeters or to be the Reader of Worship. There is a sign-up sheet on the office door. She would also appreciate a volunteer who would periodically check the pews and replace pencils, cards, etc. Several Choir members have offered to be acolytes if no children are available.

Nancy Beasley announced that the offering for “One Great Hour of Sharing” will be taken on March 26th.  We are all looking forward to Terry Hutchinson’s program on his trip to India as a representative of the Rotary Club. His presentation will be held at the church soon.

The Deacon’s ask that announcements and prayer requests be written on the papers in the narthex. When Ron reads them, everyone can hear.

Sandy McDaniel reported that all is going well with the Food Pantry. “Souper Sunday” brought in $97.00 and with the scouts gathering food on February 4th both did a lot to replenish our supply.  In December, 25 adults and 41 children were fed. Vouchers totaling #86.89 were given out. In January, 23 adults and 38 children were fed and vouchers totaled $66.00.

We also decided to meet on the second Monday of every other month at the same time. Please mark your calendars.
